it's a packed weekend

I have to head to Sin City this weekend. Doing a road trip to my cousin's wedding there. But if you're in town check out the San Francisco Public Library:

*COLORED:  Black n' White, The Philippine-American War in American Popular Media, 1896-1907 -
Opening Lecture and Reception

Opening Lecture with Exhibition Curators:  Main Library, Lower Level, Koret Auditorium, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Reception:  Following the program, Main Library, Sixth Floor, Skylight Gallery 100 Larkin Street (at Grove)

Related Exhibition:  From August 14 through October 21, 2004, Main Library, Sixth Floor, Skylight Gallery 100 Larkin Street (at Grove)

The book that's being published is called, "The Forgotten Book" (T'boli Press, 2004) written by Abe Ignacio, Jorge Emmanuel, Enrique dela Cruz and Helen Toribio. Book design by Carl Angel. It's gorgeous! Complete with several full color and black and white scans of the original newspaper prints. Been watching its progress over the last few weeks as the authors painstakingly went through the proofs to pick up any last typos and errors. And to think it all started on ebay, where Abe found many of the initial publications and pictures.

Hopefully the box from Hong Kong will get there in time.
