bright lights, big city

Figured out a nice balance here in Vegas, which makes the place more bearable and actually fun. Will be posting pictures soon, including a sign for "Chez Moi: an avante garde caberet" which for some reason reminded me of Chatty, don't ask me why. Though Chez Moi means "Your Me" which makes no kind of sense, but then again this is Vegas, where people sky dive indoors and watch Borg's in 4-D. Las Vegas is the best place to read signs that make you say, "what?"

My bro has gone east to NYC, his first time there and is actively blogging his adventures there. He's still at an age where he could imagine himself living in the Big Apple, such a wonderfully seductive place.

We're spending a quiet evening at home for New Year's and not going anywhere near the "Strip." Have had sporadic internet connection and no cable tv, but been picking up the tidbits of the climbing death toll from the tsunami. The breadth of humanity is difficult to comprehend. Heard a story of how a guy went scuba diving, the tsunami rolled past him while in the deep. He resurfaced only to see the destruction the water had washed away. For all our wars and other self-importance, it's Mother Nature who really turns the great wheel.
