while I'm waiting
Sitting on campus wireless waiting for the rest of the class to get here. Speaking with Jean on Pinoy Poetics to a summer session Asian American Studies 2B class. Should be fun. Jean says "hi".
My dreams last night were filled with anxieties over the wedding day. Broken down cars, missing shoes, transporting people from one place to the next. Though it didn't really disturb my sleep much, it was actually quite restful. While I've seen alot of other brides be really anxious about having the "perfect" day, it's not too big of a deal for me. I figure so long as I show up, he shows up, and someone wants to marry us and we sign the piece of paper, everything else is gravy or a really good story. Humor will inevitably get us through this, because life is funny. And yes, life is still funny even if it's me.
Today, I'm calling lots of people to set up times to meet. Meet with the priest. Meet with the church's wedding coordinator. Meet with the hotel on Monday. Meet with the church music director. Meet with the DJ. Meet with the kulintang group some time. Confirm. confirm. confirm. Wedding coordination is about communication and making sure everyone is on the same page. So I've had to get good at knowing who needs to be in the know.
The bridal shower at the end of the month is not a surprise, since my schedule is too busy and no one wanted to risk missing my own bridal shower. Though, what will happen that day will be a surprise.
The classroom is filling up. I'm sure we'll blog about this morning soon. I think it's the last class session, and they've brought soda and sweet snacks. bonus!
