white castle

Since White Castles are an East Coast phenomena, I've been curious at the attraction of White Castle burgers since watching "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle."

They sell White Castles at the Student Union bar, the Bear's Lair, on campus. I ordered 3 of the small steamed squarish slyders: steamed bun, onions, and cheese. no sign of the pickle. It tasted like the burgers I used to get in school lunches but I must admit with a bit more flavor, mostly from the onions. The steamed bun and meat are so soft I don't think you need teeth to chew them with, mostly inhale, which would make for a good late night munchy craving food. Kind of like Krispy Kremes, no need for teeth.

Maybe if I had grown up with White Castles and maybe if they were the known places to be open late late at night for cheap food, maybe I would have savored them with some elation. Oh well. Perhaps I need to try them at an actual White Castle or that the desire for them may simply come from curiosity. Perhaps it's Friday and I'm just simply bored at work staring at the lovely sunshine outside that we haven't had all week. Can't wait for the weekend to start.
