Lost: 8" cake and topper
In the aftermath of all the cleaning up and running around and checking out of the hotel, signals got crossed and we never did pick up the top layer cake and cake decoration, shown here in this picture. And after a few conversations with the hotel staff, I believe it's gone astray, something about an overzealous fridge cleaner.
I'm not too worried about the cake itself really. We were planning to eat it the next day. I find the tradition of saving the cake for a year and eating it then a bit repulsive. I always figured we would just go down to Merritt Bakery a year from now and order another one.
But I am a bit saddened that our two wedding bears are missing. The decor was actually for a 25 year anniversary, but I thought they looked so much cuter than this pair:
So we modified the pillow to say "25(+) wonderful years (to come)" (parenthesed words are what we added).
The hotel said that they will call the bakery up to get another cake made and will order us another cake top decor. Fortunately, they still do have our cake knife and server set at least.
