sea lions sleep around 1am

Staying in Monterey for a few days for a conference of user support staff from numerous colleges and universities from throughout the world. Currently listening to Howard Rheingold author of "Smart Mobs" talking about cooperation and how technology has created a way for people to organize themselves, such as the txt messages that brought about EDSA II, or the "flash mobs" , a performance art collaboration. He's a fascinating and entertaining speaker. His premise, seeing a generation that will expect to be able to use technology. As a user support person it changes the perspective and expectations of users about their technology use, like "I need my internet NOW!"

Ironically, he's talking about how "kids" will have back channel conversations while a lecture is going on, and here I am blogging about him while he's discussing the very thing I'm doing.

Howard Rheingold lectures at UC Berkeley and Stanford.
