Together we will rule the Universe
Spent yesterday morning at the post-party party family party. It's a time when the tsismis rolls and the siblings (the uncles and aunties) get together to discuss family business and such. The kids chat amongst themselves, scroll through pictures from the night before, get into the puzzles and board games. Of course, it called for another Turbo Cranium guys vs girls challenge. We broke even that day, gals taking the first game and guys taking the second game. We forced backwards spelling on them as often as we could. Partially because we didn't want to do it, partially because it's funny watching them concentrate so hard. While the girls cheered enthusiastically on their win, the guys seemed more relieved.
We laughed at all the little crying kids. It was not a good day for Shaolin, the kid with the hard head who's not afraid to bang it into everything. He went into the living room to check out what the other lil ones were doing. The two older girls, both 4 years old were playing pillow fight with the sofa pillows. We were all in the other room. Next thing we know he comes barreling in with tears. I go into the living room to investigate. What happened?
One of the girls, which we call Miss Wowowee dancer immediately pointed to the formerly known as Eagle Claw. Eagle Claw then explained that they were just playing and she went "like this" (both her hands moving in and out with fists). As she said, they were just playing. One of the older cousins who had more vocabulary explained that Eagle Claw hit Shaolin with a pillow, which sent him bawling out the room. Later Eagle Claw's dad asked her to tell him what happened and she repeated her hand punches, presumably with a pillow between them and her iteration that, "they were just playing." Poor Shaolin, while he bangs his head into chairs and tables which brings on a short yowl or two. His demise comes at the hands of a girl with a pillow. Pillowfights are upsetting.
In the afternoon we took the second shift at Rona and Henry's Valentine housewarming. So much good food including homemade truffles from chocolate just in from Venezuela, so yummy, especially the ones dusted with cinnamon and chiles. The party was complete with the brown lunchbags with each people's names on them stuck on the walls like in elementary school. Blank valentines of Star Wars and Hello Kitty and SpongeBob Squarepants lay around the apartment for people to place valentine's in the bags. It was the first time the hubby ever did this sort of thing since he grew up in the Philippines. He got two Darth Vader Valentine's. He wondered what that said about him. I think it's cuz he got more of the "guy-oriented" valentine's. I got two "Be Mine" Hello Kitty Valentines and a Palpatine one that said, "Together we will rule the Universe!" Because love is sometimes about possession and power.
We continued on in our well fed way to the Valentine's Poetry Flash reading at Cody's with Eileen and Catherine Daly, which I'll blog upon later.

Such the party animals you two! Your blog is becoming something of a 'society page' for us Pin@ys, eh? ;-) Thanks again for coming through to warm our home. --Rona
