blow hard



Catching up on some posts. The picture above is me at Firelight Glass learning how they make their oil lamps. They make some really nice things. As part of their annual holiday sale, they invited folks to try some glass blowing. They actually use Pyrex, the same stuff they use in labs and in your clear casserole dish. The guy behind me is making sure I don't set the whole place on fire.

My sister made a small bowl glass with a really wide base. It was like a shot glass you could never knock over. She tried it out first and we were so excited we forgot about the camera we brought. I made one with a slightly larger bowl. The picture below is me heating the end of the glass so I can, with assistance, use a rod to push the mouth open.
