Gabi ng mga Kasintahan (Night of the Lovers)

A balmy amethyst breeze
Whispers to flickering shadows
Of silhouetted palms
Like the brush of soft wings
Murmuring intimately,
Echoing the caress
Of rustling bamboo,
Longing for the sweet breath
Of sampaguita garlands
Entwined.

And Malakas and Maganda
Alone
Beneath a temple of stars
In their secret tropical Eden
Blessed by angels.
