things in place
Went to the jeweler's to add our names to the arras chain, the same one used by my parents on their wedding day. The chain is made of Philippine pesos "1964", nickel. My mother told me her mother had one made of Philippine centavos, that were then made of real silver, but years later one of her relatives took it apart and spent the money.
My parents are also getting their wedding rings redone. The original ones they got in Manila were made in some sort of steel. They didn't know much about jewelry then. The new ones will be in gold. Should be done in 3 weeks.
The wedding planning is slowing down. Most everything is in place, just waiting on a handful of things or waiting on things to be ready, like the wedding dress and the flowergirl's dresses. I have to get started on the wedding our wedding video presentation: scan photos, time the music. Food tasting at the hotel, meeting with the wedding coordinator of the church next week.
Mostly waiting for wedding RSVPs and regrets to come in. I keep going to wedding websites looking at checklists to see what else we might have missed. I guess this is the lull. The lull before things really get going. After so much busy-ness the lull is a bit unsettling, but it's probably a good thing. Gives me a chance to catch up on chores. And I'm sure the lull will breeze past.
As the first half of the planning dealt with "things", the second half has more in dealing with people. Calling, talking, finding out who's doing what. There are details at the church I have to settle, like what passages of the bible will be read and who will read them. People coordination is often trickier than things, things stand still. People do not. So I foresee a great deal of phone tag in my future.
Things are going to get really exciting really soon. I should enjoy the breathing room.
56 days to go.
